MEMBERSHIP DUES
The dues for all physicians are $1000 per year paid quarterly. Savings realized through MVIPA negotiated discounts and fee schedules will more than pay for annual dues for each physician. The most significant savings opportunity is made available through discounts in malpractice insurance by using MMIC.
There is a one time $400 initial membership fee that is required for each member and a $1.00 stock option payment due as well.
A physician must have current admitting privileges with one of the area hospitals. (GRMC, KAH, or FMCH) in order to be eligible for participation in the MVIPA. |
BENEFITS OF MVIPA
Aside from the significant savings on malpractice insurance from MMIC, the most obvious benefit to joining the MVIPA is group contracting and negotiation in both managed care and PPO contracts. The MVIPA has secured several statewide and direct contracts that cover thousands of lives throughout Southeast Iowa. Many of the covered lives are in the rural areas that are under served because the networks and their payers look to the larger markets to contract. These negotiated contracts allow patients to obtain care locally instead of traveling elsewhere. Through participation in MVIPA contracts, physicians are assured their individual interests are represented. |
